Abstract
This work introduces a performance piece for two dancers co-creating movement and music with the Magical Musical Mat (MMM), an interactive instrument that amplifies touch with sound. Through a series of structured improvisations and choreographed sequences, performers explore the expressive potential of the MMM's tactile interface, creating rich sonic textures with an evocative movement vocabulary that explores the nuances of human touch. In addition to its artistic objectives, the performance serves as a platform for exploring the technical capabilities of the MMM and pushing the boundaries of interactive music systems. By showcasing the MMM in a live performance context, we aim to demonstrate its potential as a versatile and expressive tool for artistic expression, while also inviting critical reflection on the role of technology in shaping our relationship with sound and movement.
