Abstract:

Program notes: The Cellist's brain signals and pulse figure against the Baroque Basso Continuo that they are playing. The Cellist wears the state of the art Enobio system which transmits EEG, ECG and EOG from brain activity, eye movements, muscle contractions, and pulse to a laptop computer. These signals are mapped into sound in realtime with specially designed sonication algorithms. About the performers: Stephen Barrass teaches and researches Digital Design and Media Arts at the University of Canberra. Diane Whitmer is a Neuroscientist at Starlab Pty. Ltd. in Barcelona. Geoffrey Gartner is a Cellist in the Ensemble Offspring in Sydney
