Abstract:
Electronic Musical Instrument Design is an excellent vehiclefor bringing students from multiple disciplines together towork on projects, and help bridge the perennial gap betweenthe arts and the sciences. This paper describes how at TuftsUniversity, a school with no music technology program, students from the engineering (electrical, mechanical, andcomputer), music, performing arts, and visual arts areas usetheir complementary skills, and teach each other, to developnew devices and systems for music performance and control.
