A Flexible Mapping Editor for Multi-touch Musical Instruments

Greg Kellum, and Alain Crevoisier

Proceedings of the International Conference on New Interfaces for Musical Expression

Abstract:

This paper introduces a flexible mapping editor, which transforms multi-touch devices into musical instruments. The editor enables users to create interfaces by dragging and dropping components onto the interface and attaching actions to them, which will be executed when certain userdefined conditions obtain. The editor receives touch information via the non-proprietary communication protocol, TUIO [9], and can, therefore, be used together with a variety of different multi-touch input devices.
