Proceedings of the International Conference on New Interfaces for Musical Expression

Abstract:

The development of new interfaces for musical expressionhas created a need to study how spectators comprehend newperformance technologies and practices. As part of a largerproject examining how interactions with technology can becommunicated with the spectator, we relate our model ofspectator understanding of error to the NIME discourse surrounding transparency, mapping, skill and success.
