Abstract

This paper reports on ongoing studies of the design and use ofsupport for remote group music making. In this paper weoutline the initial findings of a recent study focusing on thefunction of decay of contributions in collaborative musicmaking. Findings indicate that persistent contributions lendthemselves to individual musical composition and learningnovel interfaces, whilst contributions that quickly decayengender a more focused musical interaction in experiencedparticipants.
