Percussion Instruments Using Realtime Convolution : Physical Controllers

Roberto Aimi

Proceedings of the International Conference on New Interfaces for Musical Expression

Abstract:

This paper describes several example hybrid acoustic / electronic percussion instruments using realtime convolution toaugment and modify the apparent acoustics of damped physical objects. Examples of cymbal, frame drum, practice pad, brush, and bass drum controllers are described.
